Innovative Financing Models

We combine private-sector efficiency and investment with specific business needs, to deliver affordable bioenergy solutions through scalable, on-site, behind the meter, anaerobic digesters.

How it works?

The Waste-to-Energy Service Company (WESCO) model accelerates the deployment of bioenergy solutions by directly addressing the biggest bottlenecks: high upfront capital costs, and operational monitoring requirements.

At its core, WESCO enables privately pre-financed bioenergy projects to decarbonise businesses while reducing their operational costs. The African Diaspora Bioenergy Initiative works with established local and international partners to design, finance, construct, and commissions the anaerobic digesters upfront, removing the need for businesses to commit capital in advance. We also manage the on-going operation and maintenance of the plant so you can focus on your core business.

Once operational, the assets are offered under two flexible options:

Waste-to-Energy Service Agreement

We would manage the operation of the asset under a Waste Disposal service agreement & Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) where the African Diaspora Bioenergy Initiative acts as the Integrated Performance Partner, bridging the gap between technical design and financial realization by assuming the full financial and operational risks of the project.

While you provide the site, organic feedstock and energy offtake, our role is to engineer the system, arrange or provide the necessary investment, and manage the long-term Operations and Maintenance (O&M) to ensure peak efficiency. We recoup our costs by charging your site per tonne of waste disposed via the digester, and selling the energy products produced to you over a fixed term and fixed tariff rate.

Lease-to-Own

The anaerobic digester is transferred to the business under a long-term, low-interest, repayment plan, at no upfront cost. This functions like a financed equipment sale, with the African Diaspora Bioenergy Initiative continuing to ensure peak efficiency of the plant.

Upon completion of the repayment plan, we can continue to manage the Operation & Maintenance of the asset, or this can be handed over to you to manage.
